Special Offer: Was $320 now, $220. Very rare Jizhou type ware circa Southern Song to Yuan Dynasty. Robustly potted, this has an even dark soy brown glaze covering the body all the way to the foot with a light straw colored clay. There was an old repair on the rim I covered with 23K gold leaf (poor man's "urushi"), as well as a hairline surface crack in the cavetto that does not go all the way through the body. The edge of the mouthrim has fritting as is typical of Jizhou ware. D: 14.5c...

Rare strand of quartz crystal beads (and a few carnelians) excavated from the Tak Burial site near, Mae Sot along the Thai/Burmese border. I acquired these about 10 years in Thailand, these were the last lot I could find, and are very difficult to get these nowadays unless you want to buy single beads. Artifacts from these digs are from 14th/16th CE due to datable ceramics that were found in the same strata, but having said this, these are much older, as similar beads and have been foun...

Celadon bowl from the Longquan kiln Zhejiang . This has a lovey original glossy glaze with subtle incised lotus leaf pattern on the outside and abstract foliate scrolls in the cavetto. There is one fine hairline noted in enlargements and some darker sections in the glaze due to uneven heat distribution in the kiln during the firing process. D: 16.9cm/6.7in and H: 7.5cm/2.9in.

Ensemble of shards of classic Song Dynasty stoneware Guan yao and Ding yao pieces. The Ding is particularly nice with intact foot rim and lovely remnants of impressions. I’ve thrown in one Jun shard although I am not a 100% sure on this one- the lipped rim anomalous. Scale is noted in cm in last enlargements. Ideal for the serious collector or student. 4061 Good small stone (probably basalt) scraper/adz from the Maori people- very hard, cannot be scratched with stainless steel. Polished on one side only with nice sharp edge. This should predate European contact since utilitarian objects like this would have been replaced by metal materials, so this is dated of 1300CE-1800CE. I bought this in a flea market in Auckland 1986. L: 5.5cm/2.2in and W: 2.5cm1in. Free shipping.

Good Joseon Dynasty, 19th century stoneware cup/bowl with high footrim and pale greenish gray glaze and gray stoneware , this is a simple regional folk ware but has a pleasing almost celadon feel to it that needs to be held to be appreciated. Large textile from Laos with a “void” silhouette deer pattern . The colored threads are silk, while the field and border are all handspun cotton, the border may be some sort of bast fiber as it is quite coarse. 6271 Rare 4.9cm/1.9in Thai stoneware bowl from the Sankampaeng kiln circa 15th/16th CE with two fish in the center and scalloped cavetto, there is well done repaired chip on the inner rim noted last enlargement. This is a classic and definitive piece for the Sankampaeng kiln as the incised/impressed fish motif is only found on ceramics from this Thai kiln. There are some blue flambé highlights in the center, probably accidental but quite attractive. D: 21.5cm/8.2in and H: 5cm/2in. ...
