Unusual pottery bowl with hand molded snake handle. I cannot find any pieces similar in style to this although the reddish clay and heavy potting are reminiscent of Hongshan pottery. This came out of China and has a good petrichor and water absorption on the base, very old- at least 2000 to 3000 years old but probably older. W: 14cm/5.5in and H: 12cm/4.7in.

Small early Islamic Central Asian Persian bowl decorated with a figure of a woman in the center and Arabic calligraphy on the rim.. Circa 9/10th CE. Very good condition, aside from typical frits on the rim. The red clay body was dipped in a white slip with decorative brown glaze- immersed in a final clear glaze to prevent the other colored glazes from running. This piece piece will clean up quite nicely. Fired at a moderate heat.. D: 19cm/7.5in and H: 6cm/2.3in.

Tang/Five Dynasties, stoneware jar with light olive green glaze and reddish clay body. The foot is rimless and concave. There is a “Jun” type glaze run on the body noted in enlargements- probably unintentional but interesting nonetheless. I have done simple repair on the mouth by filling a shallow chip and applying a layer of gold leaf. H: 12cm/4.8in and D: 9cm/3.5in.

Fine and rare Ming Dynasty, emulating white Jade, belt fastener made of glass. There are a few tiny chips but they are too small to photograph. Glass artifacts in good condition are more difficult to find than Jade given its fragility. In the center there is a “Shou”-Chinese longevity character, surrounded by cloud scrolls and a meander pattern on the perimeter. L: 6cm/2.3in and W: 4.6cm/1.8in. Good Tang Dynasty gray clay brick/tile depicting “Atlas” type, Yakshi figure seated on a lotus blossom. I was in Taxila, (cradle of Gandharan Civilization) and saw a similar figure. This illustrates the Greco/Roman influence in Tang art. The lotus shows indicates an obvious Buddhist connection. The left side of the face is molded a bit obscure, but no damage. An unsual piece, in that it is smaller than the other ones I have had- ergo cheaper shipping. H: 16cm/6.2in and W: 10cm/4.1...

Lovely pottery small lead glazed stove from the Eastern Han Dynasty (202 BCE – 220 CE). Minor fritting and a couple of chips on the upper corners, but overall, in very good condition for a two thousand year old piece. There are still random traces of the silver patina on the surface. I scraped off a small section the surface layer and a beautiful silver patina is revealed (see enlargement #7), up to the buyer of they want to clean the whole piece. See last enlargement for reference ...

Very fine polished shouldered stone axe from the late Neolithic Period, Nan Province Thailand, near the Lao Border. I acquired a collection a few of these in 2009 and this is the best of the lot. The stone is very hard and cannot be scratched on the polished surface with steel. .It is in very good condition with only a couple chips on the softer part of a still serviceable cutting edge. This feels good in the hand and is incredibly thin given the length of it (please see side angle)...

Very good small painted Majiayao Neolithic jar, Machang phase circa 2300BCE–2000 BCE). Finely potted, and high fired- this is only 1 mm thick at the mouthrim. The colors are fired on and are still vivid and crisp after 4000 thousand years. There is some acceptable damage (IMHO), please view enlargements and probable small repair on the mouth rim. This came from a longtime collector in Hong Kong, please note that the sticker on the bottom is from a shop that has been closed for over 20...
