Very rare antique, circa early 20th century supplementary weft silk floss embroidered, on a natural indigo dyed base of hand spun cotton thread, child’s blanket from the Zhuang ethnic group, Binyang County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Province, China. This has a very unusual pattern I have seen only on one other Zhuang textile, please note the center field is covered with a repetition of the Chinese character “Wang”, which means king, also quite unusual are auspicious coin symbols....

Good woman’s skirt panel or apron from a Yunnan ethnic minority, approximately 50 to 70 years old. All the elements in this piece are hand made, even the ribbon along the border which is often machine made (even in old pieces). The beads along the edge are made of seeds. Fine old Chinese nephrite jade, circa Tang Dynasty or earlier. This piece has been crisply cut and polished on all sides and edges, the tiny holes drilled front and back indicate that this piece was possibly a garment fastener which was held on with either gold or silver wire. Unique and rare Zo/Tedem blanket. The Tedum aka Tiddim are a subgroup of the Chin, who live in Northern Burma, Chin State, bordering India. This piece is circa 1950-1960, spun from commercial, hand dyed cotton thread with some single faced supplementary and diamond twill patterns.
