Fine Tang zhenmushou tomb guardian. These were interred in the vault and meant to subdue evil and protect the deceased. This fantastic creature, like the Western Chimera, were composite animals having the stripes and fierce countenance of a tiger and hooves like a deer. Most of the pigments appear to be original, with rare traces of gold applied to the sides of the chest and nose. The “spikes” on the side have been repaired with the probability of more on the body...

Rare Northern Song Dynasty, porcelaneous saucer with abstract incised floral medallion. Good Tang Dynasty gray clay brick depicting “Atlas” type figure seated on a lotus blossom I was in Taxila once and saw similar figures which to my mind illustrates the Greco/Roman influence in Tang art. Very fine and rare underglazed blue and white porcelain jar with lid, from the Southern Yunnan Kiln of Yuxi. This type of ceramic is a fairly recent discovery, the first pieces having hit the market around 2003, although the earliest dating to having found this kind of ware was 1973. The best dating I can give this given its simple design would be late Yuan to early Ming, circa the 12th century, although ceramics from this area have been produced from the Song to Late Ming...
