Good Tang Dynasty gray clay brick depicting “Atlas” type figure seated on a lotus blossom I was in Taxila once and saw similar figures which to my mind illustrates the Greco/Roman influence in Tang art. The lotus shows indicates an obvious Buddhist connection. This is painted with “stucco”, and in good condition with no damage. W: 14.5cm/5.8in and H: 17.7cm/7in.

Ming Dynasty ceramic wedding booth. Traditionally in China a woman was carried in a covered wedding sedan chair by bearers accompanied by musicians. This piece has a detachable roof and is in good condition, only a few minor glaze frits. H: 35cm/13.8in and 12.5cm/4.8in. I have always thought these would make great display stands for small Buddhas.

Elegantly simple burnished high fired pottery cup from Warring States to Early Han Dynasty. There is one crack and a couple of chips noted in last enlargements. Pretty much to be expected from an over 2000 year old pottery piece. D:9.9cm/3.9in and H: 7cm/2.7in.

Good Tang Dynasty straw colored pottery camel with original white pigment. This piece has been repaired at the body, neck and legs (as most always are). There was layer of mud put on this to hide the repair and I have removed as a much as possible just so you know it’s there but is not glaringly obvious. Nice size, this animal embodies the spirit of the ancient “Silk Road”, if not Xi Jin Ping’s “One Belt One Road Initiative”. H: 32.5cm/12.8in and L: 28cm/11in

Buddhist grey pottery “lotus petal” offering jar circa 1200/1300CE with Chinese Zodiac, human figures and vajra impressed pattern. Excellent condition, no damage. Lovely gray pottery head of a woman from the Han Dynasty, Sichuan province. Early funerary art from Sichuan is quite distinct from the Han from the Central Plains of Shaanxi. In general Han Sichuan images show more emotion in their expressions and are far less abstract. Prior to their assimilation during the Qin Dynasty, Sichuan was composed of ethnically and politically separate non Han cultures. In my opinion this can be easily seen temperament and style of their art...

Rare pottery storage jar with amber sancai type glaze, circa Ming Dynasty 1368–1644 CE. This type of jar is generically referred to as a Martaban jar which was a port city in the old Pegu Kingdom in present day Myanmar. These were exported all over South East Asia, and although their origins are very diverse, i.e., Vietnam, Thailand as well as well as Chinese potters in Sarawak...

Exceptionally rare, handled drinking vessel from the Liao (Khitan) people, circa 907 CE to 1279 CE. There are very few Liao pottery pieces in collections today so this piece would of interest to anyone specializing in this period. Please note last enlargement for reference of a similarly shaped gilt silver piece dating form this period. This particular type of jar shows a much closer affinity with Central Asian cultures than the Han...

Exceptionally rare, grey pottery, recumbent tiger, circa Han Dynasty. So far this is the only one I have ever seen, outside of a book. This piece is in excellent condition, no damage with traces of original white pigments. Rather than a depicting the tiger as some ferocious predator it portrays it with a friendly expression. L: 25cm/9.8in and W: (midpoint) 8cm/3.1in.
