Early Northern Song bowl bowl, with broad lip around the mouthrim. The body is high fired with a greenish glaze. Excellent original condition, no damage. I tend to think this is trying to emulate either a Ding or Qingbai type. I have seen three of this type bowl recently and all have some out of Sichuan, so most likely from a Southern Kiln. D: 17.7cm/7in and H: 6cm/2.4in.

Porcelain quality early Northern Song bowl from the Hutian Kiln at Jingdezhen. There is one small chip on the rim, kiln warpage and some bubbles under the glaze in the cavetto, all visible in enlargements. D: 12.3cm/4.8in and H: 3.5cm/1.4in. The color of the bowl is much closer to a white than green.

Very rare small celadon Yueyao lugged jar from a Zhejiang Kiln, circa Five Dynasties/Early Northern Song. This type of ceramic was a precursor to Longquan ware. There is a firing crack and some fritting (caused by pockets of air trapped beneath the glaze during firing) on one side- noted in enlargements. D: 9cm/3.5in and H: 6cm/24in. I have added a cosmetic "enhancement" (filled the crack and applied gold leaf).

Exceptionally rare, fine large Cizhou ware black glazed bowl with hare’s fur marking and russet splashes circa Jin/Yuan Dynasty. This is from a Henan kiln- the unusual brown clay and cutting of the foot is similar to Jun Wares in the National Palace Museum, Taipei- dated to the Yuan Dynasty. The body is very thin compared to others from this genre with an excellent high iron content patina. D: 17.7cm/7in and H: 7.3cm/2.9in. The pictures do no...

Extremely rare matched pair of large (possibly one of a kind), Liao Dynasty, greenish brown (khaki) glazed Gangwa ware jars from the Chifeng Kiln, Inner Mongolia. The Liao were a non Han culture that ruled in Manchuria and parts of Mongolia 907-1125 CE. This shape is fairly unique to Liao ceramics as it seeks to emulate Turkic West Asian metal work drinking vessels...

140.00 Good Jizhou glazed jar from a Jiangxi kiln with lid circa Southern Song Dynasty. Please note that the lid and body are slightly different as the lid’s glaze lacks the craclature of the body with more of “tea dust” type glaze. Possibly from the same kiln- “matched but not married”. Having said this they look good together and unless closely scrutinized its hard to notice...

Quirky Cizhou type, heavy, completely black glazed, waisted beaker from the Ming. I am guessing that was used in a Chinese Apothecary, but this is just a best guess to its function. This has original hole in the bottom and not recently drilled. Lovely thick glaze and aside from a couple of chips on the outside of the foot, in very good condtion. H: 13cm/5.1in- width at base : 8.7cm/3.8in and width at mouthrim : 11cm/4.3in.

Special Offer: Rare Yue glazed, four lugged jar with attractive “iron” spot from the Western Jin Dynasty (265-420). This piece is fully glazed on the outside with some degradation on the inner mouthrim, having said this the glaze is stable with no fritting- there is one tiny chip on edge of mouthrim and a firing chip on the base, which I would deem insignificant on this type of piece...

Gray terra cotta female figure from the Han Dyansty, with original white and traces of red pigment, H: 32cm/12.5in. It has been repaired below the torso; a clever bunny could easily ameliorate the unsightliness of the seam of the breakage.

Good Song Dynasty carved “lotus” celadon bowl from the Longquan kiln, Zhejiang. There is one easy to miss hairline crack noted in enlargements, but still has a nice ring when tapped. Fairly big for this type of bowl. D: 19.5cm/7.7cm and H: 7.8cm/3.1in.
