Rare Boti or vegetables cutter, like any good kitchen utensil this has a multipurpose function, as it can be used as a coconut scraper on the end of the hand forged blade. This one is circa late 19th century from Tamil Nadu. The end of the cutter has been made into the shape of a bird with “floral” patterns carved into t5he wood. L: 63.7cm/25in x W: 16.7cm/6.6in x H: 35.4cm/13.9in.

Good19th century copper lime container from Kandy with original chain. This hinges on the side with a working closing mechanism. The copper body has attractive incised scrolling patterns and decorative brass fittings top and bottom- all good condition. H: 8.8cm/3.5in and W: 7.3cm/2.9in.

Unusual hardwood paan (betel) tray with well carved Kandy style floral medallion in the center. The WHO advised the Sri Lankan government against the chewing of betel and it is now illegal- that is not to say that this really stops people from still doing it though. This an antique piece W: 29.5cm/11.5in x W: 29.5cm/11.5in x H: 6cm/2.2in. Minor split on left side- may seen in first enlargement.

Rare collection (5 pieces) of pottery tobacco pipes used by the Rau/Brau people. These were acquired in Laos quite a few years. Most likely fired at the Yixing Kilns, in Jiangsu Province- the same place that made opium pipe bowls. These would date from late 19th century to first half 20th century- the ones with reddish clay being the oldest. They have some small chips consistent with old tribal pieces...

Two old Japanese tobacco pipes with sheath and box sets. The branch shaped pipe holder has been repaired and the inner lip in the blonde wood box has some damage. The black wood box has a copper band grommets. Both are functional- smoke it if ya got it. I replaced the mouthpiece for the pipe on the dark wood pipe. Will include the original and spare pipe stem. See last enlargement for scale.
