It is quite a durable weave with denim like feel. There is some staining, one small hole as well as a bit of dye bleeding. Wonderful old “farmer’s lunchbox” from Northern Thailand, used for carrying sticky rice to the fields for hard day’s work. In excellent condition it is made from split bamboo with the original natural fiber cord. H: 20cm/8in and W: 20cm/8in.

Nice old Cambodian “siri” box. This piece predates the Khmer Rouge regime and circa 60 or 70 years old. In good condition, there is no significant damage other expected signs of use and wear. In recent years Khmer lacquerware is making a comeback, however most of this is used for “home décor” export items, as far as I know no one is currently resurrected items for common household use. Ideal gift for Valentine's Day. Lovely and simple, Burmese jade heart with big splash of Apple Green color. Deserves a gold loop but I have strung it on an adjustable chord with two coral toggle beads. H: 30.5mm x 25.6mm (thickness 4.8mm). This is about 30 years old, originally acquired from and old jade dealer in HK going out of business- given it’s age it will retain it’s color and is not dyed.

Rare silk Cambodian ikat lower garment L: 288cm/113.in and W: 90cm/35.5in with twill weave; unique to Khmer textiles. This skill died out during the reign of the Khmer Rouge and has not yet recovered the skills and technique to make a textile of this quality. The size of this piece indicates it would have been worn by an upper class family much like a pantaloon with center being passed through the legs and tucked into the waist...
