Good woman’s skirt panel or apron from a Yunnan ethnic minority, approximately 50 to 70 years old. All the elements in this piece are hand made, even the ribbon along the border which is often machine made (even in old pieces). The beads along the edge are made of seeds. This piece has some old repairs which I have noted in enlargements. The overall embroidered pattern is a combination of white cotton while the greens and reds are either silk or a cotton and silk blend...

Rare woman’s skirt (pukhang) from the Kachin/Jingpo ethnic group, Northeast Burma. This is two panels with supplementary weft trim on the ends made of dog hair. Mostly natural dye and indigo. It is quite a durable weave with denim like feel. There is some staining, one small hole as well as a bit of dye bleeding. I could only find examples this in “Textiles of the Hill Tribes of Burma”: Michael C. Howard (plate 107) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art: Accession Number: 2002.312...

110.00 Lovely vintage wearable woman’s dress from the Tai Dam ethnic group Vietnam. Made from all hand woven cotton cloth the, colorful silk embroidered wide bordered hem is particularly nice. Good condition, with a couple of fading streaks at the waist panel, but as this part was never meant to be shown when worn I would consider this negligible. W: 136cm/54in and L: 97cm/38in.

One of a kind quirky Thai pangolin amulet carved from bone with Khon script signifying this has some spiritual meaning. I have never seen one these before- possibly used as knife in symbolic blood letting rituals where the shaman cuts out “evil” from his patient. Probably about 30 year old this is a lovely abstract interpretation of a Scaly Anteater. L: 13cm/5.2in.

Good monkey khik, carved from wood, contrary to how I see these often advertised they have little to do with attracting women, but are worn by on the side by men for luck and prosperity. The symbolism goes way back to Hindu mythology where the Shiva lingam represents primordial creative energy and the Monkey God Hanuman embodies courage and devotion. L: 5cm/2in. Unlike the cast metal types, this is a one off item and good example of Thai folk art...

Ten jade perforated untreated Jadeite discs, circa late 1880 to 1950. These retail for about $30.USD each in a Hong Kong. I acquired from a Hong Kong jade dealer going out of business due to the ever increasing rents here. Average diameters are between 2cm and 2.5cm and thickness between 2mm and 4mm. These were imported into Hong Kong during the 1980s when local dealers could buy direct from Chinese government owned Arts and Curios Department (usually by the kilo)...
