Unusual collection of 6 old “prayer cloths” from a Taoist Master’s ceremonial robe (see last enlargement). For generic purpose’s these should be considered to be from the Mien group as they came from Vietnam and are circa 50 to 60 years old- woven from handspun cotton. They all have the same basic pattern indicating they are probably from the same priest’s outfit. These used to be quite easy to get about 15 years ago but now almost impossible to find...

A timely and quirky soy brown glazed Korean War era chopstick holder with political slogans. The left hand column translates as “support your family and the Chinese military”, the right hand “oppose America, support Korea” and the top characters “increase productivity”. Very fine old wool pangden cloth- all hand spun wool and natural dyes. This piece is an exceptionally large piece consisting of 5 panels, circa 40 to 50 years old. I have had quite a few of these in the past and this is one of best I have seen. The weave is very tight and heavy and would make an excellent small blanket or throw rug. In the past these were worn by married women, but these days they are a fashion accoutrement for the modern Tibetan woman...

Nice vintage jadeite bangle circa 40 to 70 years old. Some tiny scratches on the surface but no cracks. Unusually small size perhaps made as a “symbolic protective” gift for an infant, but it seems unlikely they would have worn it as it is so thick and heavy. Nice spinach green highlights. Outer D: 5.5cm/2.18in, inner D: 3.27cm/1.29in and thickness 1.13cm/0.44in, weight 55 grams. Slightly compressed on the inside. I think this could be worn as a pendant...

Early People’s Republic of China molded, green glass vase (emulating celadon jade) and in the style of a Han Dynasty Hu, circa 1960 to 1970. Although millions of decorative items were produced during this period very little has survived to this day, especially anything made of glass. This piece is “as new” condition, with the original label, no damage whatsoever. Today it is easier to find original Han Hu then one of these. H: 28cm/11in and D: 20cm/7.9in.

Fine and rare molded leather tobacco box from the Bai ethnic group in Yunnan, China. These were purchased in rural Yunnan at a Bai market, near Dali about 15 years ago. I have found a few references on Bai lacquer but never any images, so this may have been made by either the Shan(Dai) or Yi minorities who have a better documented lacquer tradition. One can assume this craft is no longer being done with the availability of cheap plastic items as well as the migration of artisans to b...

Lovely vintage cricket box with blue underglaze Chinese landscape pattern. This was made in Jingdezhen in the 1970s/1980’s, emulating the Kangxi reign with apocryphal reign mark and wide unglazed footrim and inner rim. Please note last enlargement to compare to item #7003, these are fairly identical except for this one having a lighter cobalt blue (it’s all a matter of taste), probably more valuable as a pair than individually but will sell either way.
