Unusual collection of 6 old “prayer cloths” from a Taoist Master’s ceremonial robe (see last enlargement). For generic purpose’s these should be considered to be from the Mien group as they came from Vietnam and are circa 50 to 60 years old- woven from handspun cotton. They all have the same basic pattern indicating they are probably from the same priest’s outfit. These used to be quite easy to get about 15 years ago but now almost impossible to find. Dimensions- the larges...

Old Timorese hard wood statue commemorating a departed loved one. These were kept in the “attic” of a home and were not meant to be free standing. This carved from hard wood in good condition with minor checks in the wood. H: 26/9.8in and W: 7cm/2.8in.

Rare and unusual Iban pottery pattern paddle carved from durable Iron Wood (Belian wood), circa 19th century. The pattern on this would be pressed into unfired clay pots to give it this design by the Iban people of Sarawak. This technique has been used since Neolithic times predating the pottery wheel, where pots were made by coiling “ropes” of clay into a shape and then using the paddle to press the coils together to make a shape. The edge is rough at the bottom of the handle othe...
