Antique Chinese “lucky charm” with a bat holding a sign (almost like a Chinese pawn shop), the side in enlargement one means to have success getting a job in the civil service and the other side translates “Amitabha” Buddha. Civil service jobs were always highly desirable in old Chinese culture as they had prestige and power. This is circa Qing Dynasty and high quality silver with very detailed workmanship especially with stippling in the chasing. The silver is tarnished but will polish up beautifully. Hallmarked at the bottom of side two W: 5.2cm/1.7in and H: 6.9cm/2.7in.
