Quirky ensemble of small Buddhas heads from Burma. I acquired these in Mae Sai about 15/20 years ago, along the Thai/Burmese border. The story I was told was that these were found during road building project near Pegu (Bago), which have I no reason to disbelieve. These may possibly be Mon but I am not sure, materially and stylistically they are dissimilar to one another. The center one seems to be made of a high density stucco or white ceramic while the two side pieces are sandstone -the one on the left is in the Jambupati/Royal Attire style. These are about 200 to 400 years old possibly earlier and are guaranteed to be genuine antique items and not reproductions. Scale is metric noted in enlargements and are mounted on perspex bases.
