Guest Book

Rare vintage/antique Tibetan carpet with some writing. The character in the center of the possibly means "Prem", divine love in Sanskrit. The pile is soft and shiny while the foundation is undyed wool warp and weft. The colored dyes are aniline and there is one area where the dye ran and one end has been had seamless reweave: both noted in the last two enlargements. It is difficult to date this piece given that all wool foundations usually date to the 19th century while aniline dyes became more prominent during the early 20th century. So I reckon this from 1920 to 1960 as a best guess. No other damage other than the issues previously mentioned. This a colorful and charming piece. W: 72cm/28in and L: 127cm/50in.
