Very fine bridal head cloth from the Red Yao (Kim Mien) ethnic group Yunnan, China or Vietnam. I acquired a few of these over the years but this the best one yet in terms of design and detailed embroidery work. These are heirloom pieces given by a mother to her daughter. This is made from all hand spun, and hand woven silk on cotton background using only natural dyes, particularly nice are the small, seemingly, random indigo highlights in the field. This piece dates from circa 1920 to 1950, and is in excellent condition. L: 79cm/31in and W: 61cm/24in. Free shipping via Hong Kong Registered Airmail. Please see Jess Pourret's book "The Yao" for images and details regarding this type of apparel.
