Rare pair of gray stoneware Cizhou type funeral jars with ivory/white slip, clear glaze and appliqué human figures on the neck, circa Southern Song to Yuan Dynasties. Usually this style is found in a Qingbai glaze and these are the only ones I have seen in Cizhou. Possibly these were not meant to have lids as the mouth rim is glazed (normally if Chinese ceramic piece has a lid, the mouthrim is left unglazed). Some of the clear glaze has fitted off exposing the white slip but does not visually impact the pieces that much. H: 28.5cm/11.5in.
