Special Offer; Reduced from $500 to $300. Superbly detailed, large multi colored, “eight days a week” zodiac box. This piece is in excellent condtion, save for one chip on lid noted in enlargement 8. This one was produced in Kyaukka, Sagaing District circa 1950. The highly polished effect was created by the application of tung oil on the surface (reference: Lacquerware Journeys- Than Htun). In my opinion this piece was never used for anything other then a decorative piece as the interior shows no wear whatsoever while the exterior has the typical aged patina of old Burmese lacquer. This is a complete original set with two interior trays and slightly domed lid. D: 25cm/9.8in and H: 21cm/8.3in.
