Very fine polished shouldered stone axe from the late Neolithic Period, found in Nan Province Thailand near the Lao Border. I acquired a collection of these a couple of years ago and have been holding this one back since was the best of the lot. The stone is very hard and cannot be scratched on the polished surface with stainless steel and is in excellent condition with only a couple chips, still serviceable cutting edge. This piece feels good in the hand and is incredibly thin given the length of it (please see side angle). L: 15cm/5.9in and center W: 6cm/2.4in. Please note reference in last enlargement from Burnished Beauty: The Art of Stone in Early Southeast Asia.
