Collection of six tin and lead alloy coins from the Mon kingdom of Pegu, Burma now (Bago, Myanmar) circa 1500CE. There are 6 pieces all in excellent condition. Two have Chinthe images (Burmese mythical lions), two are peacocks, one has a Shankha (one of the eight auspicious symbols of Buddhism) and one with what looks to be a spider. The Shankha is very rare, I cannot find a published reference to this coin from this era, although the earlier Pyu culture had these on their silver coins. I acquired these in Chiang Mai 20 years ago. Please refer to text in enlargements for dimensions and weight. Free shipping.
