Lustrous and richly glazed chawan by Raku specialist, Sasaki Shoraku, this is not your typical chawan. Created and inspired by Honami Koetsu's Kamiya chawan, this large, broad, high quality utsushi chawan has a deep black surface with areas of rusty red sprinkled on the interior and exterior of the bowl creating a wonderful landscape which is as pleasant to look at as it is to hold. This chawan measures 13.5 x 8.5cm and is in perfect condition in its original signed wood box.

Large, bold and timeless Shino chawan is by the master potter and legendary personality; Tsukigata Nahiko (1923-2006). Randomly patterned and ethereal porcelain mizusashi by nunozome master, Uwataki Katsuji. This wonderful example of Uwataki's nunozome technique is a fine mizusashi with pastel colors floating just under the surface of the vellum glaze making for a modern Arita tea ceremony object. The decoration though randomly applied present a well conceived pattern that are highlighted by the application of gold overglaze on some of the floral designs...

Robust and rare mizusashi by veteran and highly important potter, Morino Taimei. Using two glazes, green enamel and silver overglaze this mizusashi is a classic example of Morino's work and a wonderful modern tea piece.

This mizusashi measures 20 x 16.5 cm and is in perfect condition with its original signed wood box and is clearly stamped on the base.

Large roughly faceted teabowl with a raised carved ridge around the center with my Ao+ gosu style glaze. This teabowl is finished off with a carved, hexagonal foot.

Large square form teabowl glazed in a Narumi-oribe style reminiscent of a continuous bamboo groove. The bottom and foot are hand cut to repeat the overall form.

Robust and feudal style Ko-Iga style chawan by veteran potter, Kojima Kenji. This broad bowl has a strong, purposeful form which gentlely undulates around the pot and is seen in the roving lip and the chawan is finished with a classic foot as seen on many of Kojima's teabowls. The face and interior of the chawan have a nice deposit of ash with areas about the lip being covered in a soft, green ash with the rear of the chawan detailing both fire color, hi-iro and a nice clay flavor, tsuchi-aji...

Robust Oribe style covered jar with kushime slip decoration and angular knob. Though not necessarily intended as a mizusashi, it sits well next to a Shigaraki chawan in photo #6. ***I should also mention there is a fine crack where the knob meets the lid that is not sharp and does not effect the use and function of this piece.

Interesting and rare set of Iga chawan by the "grandfather" of modern Iga-yaki, Tanimoto Kosei and his son, Tanimoto Kei. Both of these wood fired chawan are robust pieces that typify the work of each artist and the modern Iga movement with areas of rich green ash balanced against toasty hi-iro fire color and allowing the tsuchi-aji, clay taste to be enjoyed as well...

Large, robust Madara-Karatsu mizusashi with undulating ribs around the circumference of the pot made by Karatsu specialist, Kojima Yoshiaki. In excellent condition with its original signed box, this mizusashi measures 22 x 18cm.

There is a nearly identical example of a mizusashi by Kojima Yoshiaki in the book, MODERN JAPANESE CERAMICS, pg.75, no.54.

Classic Showa era bowl by Ichikawa Kodo (B.1925) this gama-yohen chawan shows a wide variety of textures and colors with wonderful iridescence and copper flashes across the bowl with areas of streaking and feather patterns as well as banded lines flowing across the surface. This chawan is in great, original condition and measures 13.15 x 7.2cm and comes with its signed box...
