Tall and imposing Hagi vase form made by kurinuki master, Kaneta Masanao. At over 14" tall, the vessel is impressive and commands its space much like an ancient medieval citadel. Dark and rich Ao glazed teabowl over a thickly slipped and combed, kushime surface. The teabowl is made out of a dark iron bearing clay that I made myself and is altered and the foot is hand cut using a sharpened piece of bamboo.

Tall, bold vase by Shino and oribe specialist; Higashida Shigemasa (b. 1955). Glazed in his signature HakuSetsu Shino and haiyu glazes, this vase shows his strong deconstructivist styling married with contemporary Japanese aesthetics to create a unique and idiosyncratic work for which he is known for around the world. Measuring 12.25" x 6.25" and in perfect condition this pot is accompanied by his original signed box.

Large and impressive hikidashi-kuro, black Bizen chawan by Akiya masao. Measuring 14 x 11 cm, the chawan is in perfect condition with original signed box and is quite a wonderful handful. The surface is rich with wet ash on the exterior and interior and the surface is also decorated with diagonal slashes that add to the tactile quality.

At nearly a foot tall and in perpetual motion, this modern spiral vase was made by the late kato Yasukage XIV circa 2008. Tall and imposing the spiraled surface is glazed in a rich Shino glaze that shows off a wide array of textures and color variations from pure white, blushed pink hues and rich iron red circling the base of the pot. The textured flutes draw one in and around the pot and create a vivid canvas for this creative master gone way to early.

This large Hagi tebachi, handled dish is by Scandinavian transplant and Hagi native; Bertil Nils Persson. Finding its inspiration in early Edo pottery, this tebachi is hand formed out of a rich red Hagi clay with a surface that shows a wide array of varying surface textures and hues over the large surface.
