Richly glazed complex form covered box that was pressed in to a hand mold and later finished off in temmoku and tessha accents. Obviously a well conceived form, this box was made by the son of legendary Mashiko potter, Sakuma Totaro, Sakuma Kenji.. The form, finish, lid and foot can easily lead to the Mashiko style and Sakuma in particular. All in all a very well conceived piece by the son of a pottery legend.
The box and lead measures approximately 3.76" tall, 5" long and 4.25" wide. Unboxed, this piece likely dates to the 1970's and is in great condition, exactly as it came out of the kiln.
