Solemn and noble vase Hakusetsu Shino vase by Shino and Oribe specialist; Higashida Shigemasa (b. 1955). Glazed in his signature Hakusetsu Shino this vase shows his unique Shino styling which blend the traditional with the contemporary, attributes which have gained him a worldwide following. Measuring 9.5" x 3.85" this cylindrical vase has a serene surface punctuated by the cut lip and spatula swipes up opposing sides and the textured surface is truly reminiscent of pure snow light by the moonlit. The vase is in perfect condition and the pot is accompanied by his original signed box (the cord to tie the box is missing).

There is a lot written about Higashida and a quick search around the web will fill in his bio but let it suffice to say that he has had numerous exhibitions in Japan and abroad and is illustrated in numerous publications. His pottery is held in a number of private and public collections and his work is not easily available even in Japan as his shows sell out quickly despite his quickly rising prices. This vase is a classic example of Higashida's work and shows his unique style which has added yet another facet to the Mino traditions of both Shino and Oribe pottery.
