Sold, Thank you!
Rich, almost volcanic deep red Shino chawan by multi-talented potter, Matsuzaki Ken. This large chawan has a tremendous amount of character and movement with a surface that resembles the Enbu work of Yamada Kazu though made before it was premiered. The thick, unctuous surface has a wonderful feel in the hand and is potently juxtaposed against the crimson red of the base glaze. This is a rather exhilarating bowl at a fraction of his contemporaries and his gallery prices.
Please note, there is a water smudge at the very top of the calligraphy on the box lid at the extreme right top. See inset on photo No. 5.
Comes complete with its original signed box and is in great, original condition measuring 13.5 x 9cm.
