A Chinese, Neolithic, black ware vessel; probably from the Longshan culture. The vessel is high-fired, relatively light-weigh, and quite thinly potted. The Longshan culture formed along the upper and lower reaches of the Yellow River valley, from about 3000 to 1900 BC. Height 20 cm This is an excavated piece. There are signs of root growth, and what appears to be an old repair to one side of the vessel. There is a small chip to the mouth-rim, revealing the dark grey paste. To keep our costs to a minimum, and pass the savings to our customers, we are only permitted to post a single photo of the item on Trocadero. Additional photos are available on request, or on our website.
