Vintage Miguel Melendez sterling silver bracelet consists of six 1.178” long panels, each one with a different silver figure inlaid into the mosaic stone background. Each of the silver inlay figures is detailed and intricate, each has several individual silver sections that together make up each of the animals in a section. The mosaic stone is made from crushed Turquoise and other gemstones. It is becoming very clear to me that Melendez leads the way with this style of chip inlay with silver work.
Marks: MC (conjoined). TAXCO. Sterling. Hencho en Mexico. Eagle 2.
Measurements. 7” (wearable) long, Each panel is approx. 29.95mm / 1.17” long, 20.5mm / .88” wide and 4mm thick (each is slightly concave).
Weight. 63.5 grams.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition, there are just a few tiny bits of crushed stone inlay that are missing but not enough to detract from the look as you only see this lose up close. Catch works well; the safety chain is also in perfect working condition.
Miguel Melendez is a collected artist of the 20th century Taxco era. For a bit more information see the book: The Little Book Of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks, by Bille Hougart, Third edition page 110 - 111.
