SOLD - THANK YOU!
A wonderful statement figural Picassoesque brooch or pendant by TONO / Cecilia / AC. Piedra Negra Onlay (opposite of inlay) mixed metals with all the hallmarks present. The eye is a tiny turquoise robin's egg blue (or simulated). The piece is an eye catcher; large and solid with several bright colors silver, gold, blue and black. There is a scuff mark that is on the front of the piece and is highlighted in the photographs - even though it is on the front, it detracts less than one would think unseen.
Marks: TONO. Made in Mexico. Cecilia. Piedra Negra. AC (co-joined) Sterling 925 Taxco (in a circle around AC) T183 (inventory number).
Measurements: 63.59mm / 2.50” high, 40mm / 1.58” wide and 3.5mm thick not including the bail.
Weight: 31.18 Grams.
Condition: Near excellent vintage condition, a small surface abrasion the one spot located on the lower right is the only one that can't be removed; all other can be easily removed (please see pictures). Clasp and lock work well.
About TONO via The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks (third edition) by Bille Hougart page 191.
