About the company RUBY-Z: Designed by Candace Loheed and Bean Finneran formerly of Parrot Pearls. Designing handmade handpainted ceramic jewelry in San Francisco since 1975.

I found this write up online:

Company History: The original company was called Parrot Pearls and was founded in 1975 in San Francisco. Their pieces are easily recognizable ceramic jewelry in fanciful shapes such as animals, flowers, and incorporating colorful beads made into necklaces and pins. These were 'artisan' companies with handmade, hand-painted and finished products. Parrot Pearls split off in the 1980's into Flying Colors (run by former Parrot Pearl employees) and into Ruby Z, owned by two of the original founders of PP, Bean Finneran and Candace Loheed. Ruby Z, Flying Colors and Parrot Pearls were never mass produced and have been featured in collectors' books such as Ann Mitchell Pitman's "Inside the Jewelry Box, Vol. 2" (pages 7 -13) and Kathy Flood's "Warman's Jewelry Guide, 4th Ed." (pages 219 - 221). Production ended by the mid 1990's. They are collected by aficionados all around the globe.

There is an an interesting article in Antique Week Vol. 38, Issue 1916 by Ann. M. Pitman.
