Very nice detailed vintage sterling silver ring. Balls/ beads form the shape of a flower. The work includes a ball/ bead in the center surrounded by rope work, surrounded by smaller balls (granulation) which are surrounded by a detailed rope twist, Niello (blackened background) next, and the edges have half-circles and between, balls that extend the furthest out.
The previous owner bought this in Taxco Mexico over 40 years ago while on vacation. All (99%) of silver jewelry made in Mexico for export and even tourist sales are marked MEX or MEXICO or even just Taxco, this is not marked (tests positive for at least 925 sterling) and could have been made in a home and not necessarily by an organized firm although it is known that some who worked for established firms would often make item at home for extra income. Perhaps some firms that are now ‘collected’ started in a home...interesting to think of the possibilities of who made the 'beautiful' unsigned pieces where a high level of skill is apparent.
Marks: None test positive for at least 925 Sterling Silver.
Measurements: 22.10mm / .87” round, 4.64mm high. Ring size: 5 US.
Condition: Near excellent condition, usual surface scuffs mainly on the band and the tiniest ding on 3 of the smaller balls seen with a loop and close-up pictures I hope. A bit of tarnish that can be polished if desired.
