This unique Olmec maskette is made from Guatemalan Imperial Green Jadeite and Imperial Blue Jadeite, an omphacite jade which probably contains inclusions of precious metals of silver, gold, and platinum. These metals can be seen in the pictures as spots or flecks. This variety of Olmec Blue jade is exceptionally pure and exhibits intense saturation in deep tints of bright bluish hues and has been called "princessa" or "gemma", or 'Imperial Olmec'. The green is intense and vivid. It is extremely fine grained. It dates to 1200-600BC. It measures 2 1/2" long, 2" wide and 1" deep.
