This incredible Clovis point, found on the Little Missouri River in Nevada County, Arkansas, is made from highly translucent novaculite of which only a few are known to exist. It has, according to Greg Perino, undergone some kind of heat-treating. He didn't believe that Paleo man heat-treated, so his explanation was that it must have been in a forest fire or heated in meat. I lost his COA, so I had it authenticated at a forensic laboratory which cost $500. The COA is included. The point is 3 1/2" long, 1" wide or 8.98 cm in length, 2.4 cm in width and 6.2 mm thick. The flaking on it is exquisite. There is no damage on it anywhere, a true G-10. There is no modern rechipping or restoration. It has heavy mineralization on it which is easily seen in the pictures. Significant degradation of the silicon dioxide compounds is indicated. Deposits of Ferric oxide, calcites, and organic debris were found. This is an investment quality artifact for those who require the best. I have owned it for over 20 years. I bought it from an old time collection in Denver that overall was one of the finest I have ever seen.
