This stunning pure gold and quartz necklace is from the El Bolo treasure. It was found by treasure hunters who struck a deal with the Colombian government, the Bank of Colombia and the local peasants whereby the treasure was divided up by some formula. The Royal Family of Saudi Arabia purchased many of the best pieces including full body suits. Artifacts from this treasure can be readily identified by the extreme purity of the gold which is 23K. The Bank of Columbia among other items had 8 gold necklaces. Later, the bank folded and the necklaces were sold to a dealer in California, Larry Went. Larry came through Denver and showed me all 8 necklaces. I picked this one which was my favorite. I purchased it in 1990. The entire necklace was found together. The quartz beads are all identical as to the color, length, quality and patination. The quartz is of the highest quality and clarity and is a beautiful contrast to the pure gold. They are bi-conically drilled. It was restrung in modern times. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a necklace of this quality and provenance.
