This is one of the finest three dimensional jade carvings around. It is probably Mixtec, but could be Mayan. It was owned by Keith Finello and was auctioned by Sotheby's in May 1991, lot #405. It is ex-Manoogian collection. It is 1 3/8" long by 7/8" wide. The specific gravity tested as true Jadeite. It shows heavy mineralization. The carving is correct in all aspects. The rendition of the tongue is particularily noteworthy. This is a beautiful authentic true jade bead that is very rare and unique. Museum quality. Due to a recent diagnosed major health problem, I have dropped the price of this piece and all my items by at least 50% to at or below the price I paid many years ago. Now is the time to pick up a great deal. My loss is your gain. The price was $12,000.
