DESCRIPTION: An exceptional shou shan stone seal in tablet form, certainly created by a Chinese master-carver. On the top flat surface is a tranquil scene of a full moon shining over a forest by the edge of a river with two pavilions close to the water's edge. Inscribed on the top left corner is an eight line poem. Characters carved on the seal's narrow bottom edge leave a rectangular, positive (red) impression. DIMENSIONS: 4" high (10.2 cm) x 2 7/8" wide (7.4 cm) x 5/8" thick (1.6 cm).
