The Zuni pueblo tribe of western New Mexico have created jewelry for more than a thousand years, but their silver work was originally taught to them by a Navajo silversmith in the mid 1800's. The Zuni eventually became known for their cluster work designs in both petit point and needlepoint techniques. This particular cuff is a petit point design, meaning the stones surrounding the center circle have one rounded end and one pointed end, rather than two points.
CONDITION: Very good; this large vintage cuff has all stones intact with no cracks, chips or losses. No maker's mark (as is common in vintage cuffs). DIMENSIONS: Sunface design is 2.5" in diameter (6.4 cm); 6.5" total inside circumference (16.5 cm); adult medium size. The circumference is the total measurement around the inside, including the gap between the ends. Weight is 1.5 oz. (42.5 grams).
