Rare vintage hand wrought 1930's Art Deco silver, amethyst and green hardstone necklace, bracelet, and brooch suite designed & signed by Mexico artist Frederick W. Davis (1880-1961). The pieces are comprised of alternating links of cushion shaped cabochon amethysts and pyramidal shaped green hardstones. These are gorgeous deep, dark purple amethysts and striking, bold green hardstones. All stones are free of chips or cracks with the exception of one very slight superficial chip from one corner of the amethyst that is the bracelet clasp. It looks more like an inclusion than a chip and I did not see that it was a chip until I had the bracelet under magnification. The necklace measures 17" end to end is 1"wide, weighs 97 grams and terminates with a secure hook clasp. The bracelet measures 8" end to end, is 1" wide and weighs 96 grams. The push in clasp is tight and secure. The brooch is 2 1/8" by 1 5/8" and weighs 42 grams. The necklace and bracelet are both signed with the FD mark shown in the photo. The brooch is only signed Silver Mexico but is clearly part of the set. All pieces are all original with no changes or repairs. This set is an extraordinary example of the designs of Fred Davis from this early period and a truly rare opportunity to have a matching set of this caliber. Davis designs are included in the permanent 20th century Mexican silver collection at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and featured in all books about Mexican silver.
