From a private collection in Massachusetts and purchased by the original owner at The Thunderbird Shop, comes this magnificent sterling, turquoise and red coral necklace by Frank Patania Sr., c.1950. Between 2 rows of sterling beads strung on chain are 23 saw tooth bezel set round turquoise and 23 saw tooth bezel set graduated coral pendants suspended from the bottom of the second row of sterling beads. The necklace measures 14 1/2"end to end but an extender could be added if needed. The width in the center at the longest coral pendant is 2 1/4".The weight is 115 grams. It is in fine original condition with no chips or cracks to the stones which are deep colored and vibrant. Three of the coral pendants are signed on the reverse as shown in the photos. Frank Patania Sr. came to Santa Fe, N.M. from Italy and opened The Thunderbird Shop in 1927. He created a style of handcrafted southwest American jewelry by blending the best of European technique and design with that of the Navajo silversmiths. This is an important piece with great collector value.
