A truly magnificent sterling and red coral necklace by Frank Patania Sr. The center panel has 9 saw tooth bezel set tear drop shaped coral and each of the wing shaped side panels have 6 saw tooth bezel set coral, 3 that are tear shaped and three round. Measuring 16 1/2" end to end, the center piece is 2 7/8" long and 2" across at the widest point. The side panels measure 2 1/2" by 1 1/4". The necklace, including the vibrant red stones, is in fine original condition and signed as shown. Frank Patania Sr. came to Santa Fe, N.M. from Italy and opened The Thunderbird Shop in 1927. He created a style of handcrafted southwest American jewelry by blending the best of European technique and design with that of the Navajo silversmiths. This necklace is exceptional and spectacular in every way.
