Vintage sterling clip earrings with intricately carved black onyx by Brazilian jeweler Burle Marx in the "forma livre" (free form) style. Burle Marx was particularly known for his use of large gemstones, often fashioned by carving or tumbling rather than being faceted, a technique he invented in 1948. These beautiful earrings measure 1 1/4" by 1 1/8" and are in fine original condition. The stones are free of chips, cracks or scratches. Weighing 36 grams total, they are signed as shown. Burle Marx jewelry is always fantastic and makes a bold statement.
