Monumental in size and design, this is a sterling and center turquoise belt buckle by Navajo silversmith Johnny Mike Begay. It measures 3 7/8" by 2 5/8" and weighs 77 grams. Begay worked at the White Hogan Shop in Scottsdale, Arizona as well as privately and won numerous awards for his jewelry which can be found in many private and museum collections. His work was featured in the 2002 exhibit “Jewels of the Southwest” at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Suitable for a man or a woman, this belt buckle is in fine original condition and signed as shown. Beautiful design and execution.
