Precise, elegant, sterling and coral earrings by contemporary jeweler Richard Chavez from the San Felipe Pueblo. Active since 1976, he is a master stone cutter and inlayer and the winner of numerous awards. These earrings are from the estate of Martha "Marti" Hopkins Stuever, grande dame of the American Indian art world who passed away in September of 2017. I personally saw her wear these many times as they were favorites of hers. Measuring 1 5/8" long, they are 1" wide at the top. They have posts for pierced ears and weigh 13 grams total. They are in fine original condition and both earrings are hallmarked for Richard Chavez as shown. They are lovely as was Marti.
