Interesting passbook from German occupied Latvia. Booklet is from the GENERALKOMMISAR IN LETTLAND. It appears that he only had assignment stamps. The first is December 16,1940 and the other August 8,1944. The reason is clear when you look at his occupation. He was a technicial at the Libauer Eisenwerke (Ironworks), so the fellow was lucky enough to have one of the most vital jobs in a mid 20th century war until the middle of 1944 when all bets were off. No telling what happened to him after that. 15 pages long 10.5x14.7cm. There were two staples. One is almost all gone and the other is all there but broken. Both remnants are heavily oxidized but the booklet is still all together. The paper is actually in pretty good shape with less then expected wear for being carried throughout the better part of the war. Certainly an interesting item from an interesting occupied territory.
