Super interesting and scarce Weimar era German Communist pin. Front shows a sailor on a red background waving a banner with longitude and latitude lines which seems to represent Communism spreading across the globe. The lettering reads "Sei bereit" or "Was ready". This pin seems to be a tribute to the German navy sailors who were the first to rebel and declare a Communist revolution. Pin assembly on reverse is marked Ges Gesch indicating this was made in Germany. As we may remember from our history lessons, after many years of street fighting the Communists were repressed by the Nazis on their rise to power. The rarity of this pin is due to the fact that any German caught with this during the Third Reich era would not have a very pleasant experience. In my opinion the scarcity of this pin makes the paint loss on the front forgivable. This is one of three German Communist related items I will be listing, all from one extremely interesting collection. Just a really neat item with an interesting history.
