Powerful plaque depicting angels casting out a German soldier from the city of Reims as the cathedral burns in the distance and the French civilians lie on the ground. The burning of this cathedral was one of the major propaganda points for the French during WWI. The plaque is in wonderful shape. The box is intact and the pressure fit button works. There is damage to the lid lining as per last photo and a little bit in the front corners. The leatherette cover shows expected wear with a little bit of lifting to the back corners. Really in excellent shape for a good sized and relatively delicate box. This plaque really leaves an impression.
