This is a hard to find Japanese army cold weather or arctic cap. As most of their operations were in warm areas these are not too common. This one is also in superb condition and would be nearly impossible to improve on. The fabric is clean and unstained. Every button and every loop to attach to the respective buttons is present. No loose threads, stains or anything of the sort throughout. Probably the best detail is that even the fur is clean and in healthy shape. Fur with this kind of age is usually dirty and falling apart and generally nasty and unpleasant. The crown label is in great shape as well. The writing indicates it was made in 1943. The town was Takaide, city was Shiojiri-shi. This is in Nagano prefecture. The soldiers name was Tadashi Mitsuo. Just a wonderful, groovy hat that would be a great addition even to an advanced collection.
