Two very nice private, unpublished photos of Luftwaffe General Kurt Student. These must have been taken just after the 1940 western campaigns as he has been awarded the Knights Cross but not yet promoted past Generalmajor. Student was a WWI fighter pilot and by WWII had become the father of the German paratroop forces. Somehow he managed to be shot in the head by some worked LAH soldiers but was able to recover and return to duty in time to be convicted of war crimes for actions against British POWs in Crete. He was never accused of war crimes against civilians. Very interesting personality. These photos are certainly of publishable quality. When comparing his online photos the details down to his ribbon bar are better on these images then I was able to find elsewhere online. Printed on Agfo-Brovira paper. Written on reverse is "Magdeburg, Germany April 1945". This was obviously written by an American and does not match his rank or KC level at that date so I assume this is simply when the GI "liberated" the photos. Nice pair.
