Offered is this rare and beautiful cameo glass lamp, made by Mt Washington around 1890. The lamp's bottom part is cameo cut while the shade is hand painted. The lamp is artist-signed by 'Alfred Howell'. Originally, it used to be an oil lamp that has been electrified. Overall, the lamp is 20 1/2 inches tall. The bottom glass part is 7 3/4 inches wide and 4 3/4 inches high. The shade is 10 1/2 inches tall and 9 1/2 inches wide. The lamp is in very good condition. Though unsigned, it is guaranteed to have been made by Mt Washington. A Mt Washington cameo vase of similar portrait-decor is shown on page 68 of Ray & Lee Grover's book, 'Art Glass Nouveau' (shown in second-last picture here for your convenience). Also, a Mt Washington cameo glass lamp with a similar brass base is shown on page 209 of Betty Sisk's book on Mt Washington glass.
