This is a large heavy vase done in the slipgraal technique by Edward Hald for Orrefors. Created circa 1952 as per the date mark on the base, the vase has an uncommon shape, reminiscent of a ginger jar. The decoration is of a pattern I have not seen before, and reminds me of wind blown autumn leaves. The color is a medium blood red. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. No interior clouding or etching. The vase stands 7 inches (17.8 cm) Tall and is approximately 5 3/8 inches (13.7 cm) in Diameter, it weighs 9 pounds (4.1 kg). Very appropriate age scratches to the base. The vase is marked ORREFORS/Sweden/S-GRAAL 1063L/Edward Hald on the base.
