A 19th century chinese export silver tankard signed with the maker's mark - CC. The mug is a tapering and cylindrical form decorated with sprigs of bamboo shoots and insects against a matted background. The tankard has an oval-shaped cartouche inscribed with what looks to be the initials "G.A.L.", as well as the date "1851". The inside of the tankard shows the remains of a silver gilt lining. The mug's scroll handle is a formed bamboo shoot.
Signed: Signed 'CC'. The Forbes reference book on Chinese Export Silver states that CC was a Canton maker around C 1830+ who is relatively unknown and rare.
Condition: Good for its age with no repairs or damages.
