We have on offer today a very good and rare example of a Mid Century Modern polychrome hand decorated Ceramic Boar by Guido Gambone who was one of the most important and influential Italian ceramic artists in the mid 20th century. Guido Gambone was born in 1909 and died in 1969 by the end of his life he had been the Artistic Director of I.C.S in 1935 and in 1939 founded La Faenzerella pottery. In 1950 he founded the La Tirrena pottery the ceramics he produced there were typically decorated with thick glazes and vibrant primary colours .The Boar we have on offer is a typical example of the glazes and colours he used. The base is fully signed Gambone Italy as well as the Donkey motif and dates the Boar to circa 1950s.
Condition-very good condition no repairs cracks or restoration.Has the normal minor glaze flaws as made and overall light crazing. In my images i show two very tiny what look like chips to the edge of the blue base but as you can see from the enlarged image they look like they are glaze flaws and from the time of production. Please zoom in on the images as they are part of my description and condition report and ask if you require any more images.
